Data, data and more data

An enormous amount of #data is generated every minute. By 2020 #IoT will reach 1 trillion sensors with more than 40 billion connected devices. #5G will further explode the networking.

It’s easy to think that with all this data we will be able to know anything, anytime and anywhere but how informed will business really be?

The best informed organisations will apply a data design process in decision making and have a clear understanding of the need(opportunity) or problem to be solved. They follow a process of, Desirable+Feasible = Viable

Desirable: What is the need from a customer or organisation perspective that we are trying to solve. This may be the most difficult as it also requires an understanding of what will matter most in the future. Feasible: What are the costs and resource needs. Viable: How will it increase returns.

During the process there are many trade-offs between desirable and feasible but focus should align with business #strategy priorities.

#AI and exponential hashtag#technologies will only add value once the viable needs have been defined.
