Transformation only transforms with a focus on Why
Statistics may vary but the vast majority of (#digital) #transformation projects have not met expectations, overran in delivery time, accomplished minor improvements or failed
The questions I get asked may explain these outcomes.
· What is our competition implementing?
· How can #AI, #Blockchain, #Voice ...help us
· Should we pursue a #platform strategy...
The unfortunate reality is that most organisations are focused on short-term solutions or products when dealing with transformation rather than an investment in hashtag#problemsolving #innovation around the needs at outset.
Organisations have constraints and often take short-cuts during the upfront ‘problem solving’ process.
A common approach is to apply the same patterns of thinking and familiar knowledge from similar situations rather than challenging the problem assumptions. It’s also much easier to defend a business case based on current believes and practice.
Many problems/needs are however not well understood or defined. They may even be unknown or multi facet.
The organisation’s approach to problem solving determines the success of an impactful and tactical #transformation.
Key is being able to ask the right questions:
Question the problems
Question the assumptions
Question the alternatives
